Shift in Indian Foreign Policy

India, since 1947 has shaped herself in a shape which is influencing the whole World in various parameters. Foreign Policy is such a thing, in which several Contrasts have been spotted since 1947. Earlier, We were Non-Aligned,as our policy makers then argued that we have lived so many years with foreigners and So, We don't want our further decisions to be influenced by foreigners, Some Critics even Criticized Non Alignment movement and Argued that India would be much ahead like European Nations if She would be aligned. More interestingly, we were partially Aligned with Soviet Bloc, and Soviet Union also helped us each time we needed but after 1991, Fall of Soviet Union, Geo-Political Equalization got changed as One of the two Major Superpowers had been collapsed and Unfortunately that was Soviet Union (With which, India was Partially Aligned). Since, 1991, India changed its foreign Policy by very means and Just after 1991, Coincidentally India needed to Open up its economy in 1992. Relations with USA started improving, We started Engagement with France, Israel and Many Post Soviet Countries. So, When We talk about, Foreign Policy, We cannot be Stubborn, Emotional and Steady as Only Our National Interests are permanent but There are no permanent friends as well as Enemy in World Politics. As an Example, USA and Soviet (Russia) were fighting under Same Banner of allied Forces in World War 2 but just after end of WW2, Both of these Gaints engaged in Cold war and Today, In 2018, Both were on verge of War in Syrian Conflict. Since 1947, We have changed our foreign policy many times.

Today, We are shifting towards USA as our national interests favor us to engage with USA and after that, We have major Friends like France, Israel, Iran, Afghanistan and Many more countries.
Downgrading Economy of Russia and its Power Struggle in Syria  increase Concern of India to get an Alternative Partner and here comes the USA. Other Reason can be growing China (I will write a separate article on this). Putin is interested in Increasing Ties of Russia with China which again increases our concern. So In This World of Globalization, We also cannot disengage ourselves as well as cannot be over dependent on a single major power and When People being Emotional in matters like Foreign Policy being Fan boys of USA as well as Russia, Actually, We. Should Not be emotional in these matters. We have two major Rivals at our backyard and We cannot neglect them. so we need a Foreign Policy which can ensure our Safety and Protection along with Opportunities of Development, Growth , Environmental Protection with Maintaining Pluralism, Democratic and Secular Values of the country. We should hope that Everything will be fine and world will live a peaceful life under the sustainable Development going on.
