To reequip its ageing fleep of main battle tanks India is in advanced stages to conclude the purchasse of 464 new T90 main battle tanks, from Russia. The deal finalised in the 2016 by the cabinet is been cleared and in the final stages of negotiation.
T90 is considered to be one of the most advanced tank in the world forming main battle tank for the Russian armoured forces, and the Indian armoured forces. It is classified one of the Top 5 most advanced tanks in the world and top in the Indian army inventory.
The latest version will be in par with the advanced technologies, however it will be not fitted with the active defense system developed by the Russian industry, a local active defense system is under development if completed will equip all the future tanks of the Indian army.
Currently India has around 6,000 tanks with three thousand advanced tanks comprising of T90's and T72's apart from that India has two regiments of Arjun MK1 tanks, which are popularly speculated to have outperformed T90's in certain parameters.
The T90 tanks are liscensce produced at Avadi by state owned Ordinance Factory board, it has incorporated several local partners to source various components to make the tank more deadly than in its home country.
The new 464 T90 tanks can replace either the T72 or the other older tanks that are still held in reserve in the Indian army. After Russia India is the largest operator of the Russian tanks. India also opereates around two thousand russian BMP one and two variants, which are now intended to be replaced by an indegenious solution, possibly a variant of the TATA developed Kestrel Infantry fighting vehicle.

Yes we need this tank, this our process is slow that what we decided to purchase and finally selected still not negotiated. We must close the deal and place order soon most.
